UCN2

Description

The UCN2 (urocortin 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

Urocortin-2 is a protein encoded by the UCN2 gene. This gene belongs to the sauvagine/corticotropin-releasing factor/urotensin I family. It is structurally related to the corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) gene and its product is an endogenous ligand for CRF type 2 receptors. In the brain, it may be responsible for the effects of stress on appetite.

UCN2 is also known as SRP, UCN-II, UCNI, UR, URP.
