UBR4

Description

The UBR4 (ubiquitin protein ligase E3 component n-recognin 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

UBR4 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the UBR4 gene. It's an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase.

UBR4 is an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that is a key component of the N-end rule pathway. It recognizes and binds to proteins with specific N-terminal residues that are destabilizing, leading to their ubiquitination and subsequent degradation. UBR4 also interacts with clathrin to form meshwork structures involved in membrane morphogenesis and cytoskeletal organization. It may play a role in integrin-mediated signaling and activation of FAK in response to cell-matrix interactions. Furthermore, UBR4 mediates the ubiquitination of ACLY, leading to its degradation.

UBR4 is also known as RBAF600, ZUBR1, p600.
