UBL7

Description

The UBL7 (ubiquitin like 7) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

Ubiquitin-like 7 (bone marrow stromal cell-derived) is a protein in humans that is encoded by the UBL7 gene.

UBL7 is an interferon-stimulated protein that plays a crucial role in the innate immune response to RNA viruses. It positively regulates this response by enhancing the IFN signaling pathway. Specifically, UBL7 promotes the polyubiquitination of MAVS, a key signaling molecule, through the E3 ligase TRIM21. This polyubiquitination occurs specifically on lysine 27 residues of MAVS, ultimately leading to the activation of the IFN signaling pathway.

UBL7 is also known as BMSC-UbP, TCBA1.
