UBE2E3

Description

The UBE2E3 (ubiquitin conjugating enzyme E2 E3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

The UBE2E3 gene in humans encodes the protein ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2 E3. This enzyme is part of the ubiquitination process, which targets proteins for degradation. Ubiquitination involves three types of enzymes: E1s, E2s, and E3s. UBE2E3 is an E2 enzyme that shares high sequence similarity with its counterparts in mice and rats. Two different versions of the UBE2E3 gene have been identified, each encoding the same protein.

UBE2E3 is also known as UBCH9, UbcM2.
