TXNDC17

Description

The TXNDC17 (thioredoxin domain containing 17) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

TXNDC17 acts as a disulfide reductase, participating in various redox reactions by reversibly oxidizing its active center dithiol to a disulfide. It catalyzes dithiol-disulfide exchange reactions. TXNDC17 also modulates TNF-alpha signaling and NF-kappa-B activation. Additionally, it has peroxidase activity, potentially contributing to the elimination of cellular hydrogen peroxide.

TXNDC17 is also known as TRP14, TXNL5.
