TULP3

Description

The TULP3 (TUB like protein 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

TULP3 negatively regulates the Shh signaling pathway by being recruited to primary cilia via the IFT complex A. It facilitates the recruitment of G protein-coupled receptor GPR161 to cilia, which activates the PKA-dependent basal repression machinery within the Shh signaling pathway. TULP3 binds to phosphorylated inositide lipids, and both its IFT-A and phosphoinositide binding properties are crucial for controlling the trafficking of ciliary G protein-coupled receptors. During adipogenesis, TULP3 regulates the ciliary trafficking of FFAR4 in preadipocytes.

TULP3 is also known as HRCDF, TUBL3.
