TRIP6

Description

The TRIP6 (thyroid hormone receptor interactor 6) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

TRIP6 is a human protein encoded by the TRIP6 gene. It is a member of the zyxin family and contains three LIM zinc-binding domains. TRIP6 localizes to focal adhesion sites and along actin stress fibers. It is recruited to the plasma membrane in a lysophosphatidic acid (LPA)-dependent manner and regulates LPA-induced cell migration. Multiple protein isoforms are encoded by alternatively spliced variants of the gene, though not all variants are fully characterized. TRIP6 interacts with LPAR2, BCAR1, and HOXA9.

TRIP6 relays signals from the cell surface to the nucleus, weakening adherens junctions, promoting actin cytoskeleton reorganization and cell invasiveness. It is involved in lysophosphatidic acid-induced cell adhesion and migration. TRIP6 acts as a transcriptional coactivator for NF-kappa-B and JUN, and mediates their transrepression induced by glucocorticoid receptor.

TRIP6 is also known as OIP-1, OIP1, TRIP-6, TRIP6i2, ZRP-1.
