TRIM46

Description

The TRIM46 (tripartite motif containing 46) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

TRIM46 is a microtubule-associated protein that plays a crucial role in organizing microtubules within neurons. It facilitates the formation of parallel microtubule bundles, linked by cross-bridges, specifically in the proximal axon. These bundles are essential for the efficient transport of cellular cargo along axons. TRIM46 ensures the proper alignment and stability of these microtubule bundles, which are crucial for axonal specification, the establishment of neuronal polarity, and accurate neuronal migration.

TRIM46 is also known as GENEY, TRIFIC.
