TRIM4

Description

The TRIM4 (tripartite motif containing 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

TRIM4 acts as an E3 ubiquitin ligase. It specifically attaches 'Lys-63'-linked ubiquitin chains to the innate immune receptor RIGI. This modification doesn't trigger RIGI degradation but instead seems to amplify the production of interferon (IFN), a key signaling molecule in the immune response.

TRIM4 is also known as RNF87.
