TRH
Description
The TRH (thyrotropin releasing hormone) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.
Thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) is a hormone produced by neurons in the hypothalamus. It stimulates the release of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and prolactin from the anterior pituitary. TRH is synthesized as a precursor polypeptide that undergoes several enzymatic processing steps to generate the mature form. TRH has been used clinically to treat spinocerebellar degeneration and disturbance of consciousness in humans. Its pharmaceutical form is called protirelin (INN).
TRH is also known as Pro-TRH, TRF.
