TOMM34

Description

The TOMM34 (translocase of outer mitochondrial membrane 34) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.

TOMM34 is a protein involved in the import of precursor proteins into mitochondria. It has chaperone-like activity, binding to the mature portion of unfolded proteins and aiding their import into mitochondria. TOMM34 is found in the cytoplasm and sometimes associated with the outer mitochondrial membrane. It has weak ATPase activity and contains 6 TPR repeats.

TOMM34 is also known as HTOM34P, TOM34, URCC3.
