TMOD4
Description
The TMOD4 (tropomodulin 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.
TMOD4 is a gene that encodes a protein called tropomodulin 4, specifically found in muscles. This protein regulates the length of actin filaments, preventing their growth and breakdown at the pointed end. It interacts with tropomyosin, another protein, to perform this function. Different versions of the protein are produced due to variations in the gene's instructions.
TMOD4 prevents the growth and breakdown of actin filaments at their pointed ends. This protein, along with tropomyosin, helps create short actin filaments, which define the structure of the cell membrane.
TMOD4 is also known as SK-TMOD.
