TMEM86B

Description

The TMEM86B (transmembrane protein 86B) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

TMEM86B breaks down a type of lipid called lysoplasmalogens. It specifically targets the vinyl ether bond within these lipids, producing fatty aldehyde and either glycerophosphocholine or glycerophosphoethanolamine depending on the original lysoplasmalogen. This enzyme only works on the sn-2-deacylated (lyso) form of plasmalogen.

TMEM86B is also known as -.
