TMEM223


Description

The TMEM223 (transmembrane protein 223) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

TMEM223 is a mitochondrial ribosome-associated protein that plays a crucial role in the initial stages of cytochrome c oxidase complex (complex IV) biogenesis. It promotes the translation of MT-CO1 mRNA and is a component of early MT-CO1 assembly intermediates.

TMEM223 is also known as Mrx15.
