TMEM201
Description
The TMEM201 (transmembrane protein 201) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.
TMEM201 plays a role in the movement of the nucleus during fibroblast polarization and migration. It is thought to be involved in actin-dependent nuclear movement through its association with transmembrane actin-associated nuclear (TAN) lines, which are linked to F-actin cables and connect the nucleus to retrograde actin flow. Overexpression of TMEM201 can recruit Ran GTPase to the nuclear periphery.
TMEM201 is also known as Ima1, NET5, SAMP1.
