TMEM181

Description

The TMEM181 (transmembrane protein 181) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

TMEM181 plays a critical role in the action of cytolethal distending toxins (CDTs), which are released by numerous disease-causing bacteria. The amount of TMEM181 present directly influences how susceptible cells are to these toxins.

TMEM181 is also known as GPR178, KIAA1423.
