TM7SF3

Description

The TM7SF3 (transmembrane 7 superfamily member 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

TM7SF3 plays a crucial role in protecting pancreatic beta cells from death triggered by cytokines. It also stimulates insulin secretion from these cells. This protein is regulated by p53, a tumor suppressor gene, and acts as a protective factor that reduces cellular stress. TM7SF3 helps maintain the stability of proteins within cells and promotes cell survival by mitigating stress in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and regulating the unfolded protein response (UPR).

TM7SF3 is also known as -.
