TFCP2

Description

The TFCP2 (transcription factor CP2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

TFCP2 (Alpha-globin transcription factor CP2) is a protein encoded by the TFCP2 gene in humans. It is also called Late SV40 factor (LSF) and is induced by the oncogene AEG-1. LSF acts as an oncogene in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and enhances angiogenesis by upregulating matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP9). In addition to its oncogenic role in HCC, TFCP2 is involved in chemoresistance, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), allergic response, inflammation, and Alzheimer's disease. The small molecule FQI1 inhibits TFCP2 binding to HCC DNA, leading to HCC cell death. TFCP2 interacts with APBB1 and RNF2.

TFCP2 is also known as LBP1C, LSF, LSF1D, SEF, TFCP2C.
