TAS2R7

Description

The TAS2R7 (taste 2 receptor member 7) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

The TAS2R7 gene encodes for a protein known as taste receptor type 2 member 7. This protein belongs to a family of taste receptors that are part of the G-protein-coupled receptor superfamily. These receptors are specifically found in the taste receptor cells of the tongue and palate, where they are responsible for detecting bitter tastes. The TAS2R7 gene is located within a cluster of taste receptor genes on chromosome 12p13. Studies have shown that these genes are linked to variations in bitter perception in both mice and humans.

TAS2R7 is also known as T2R7, TRB4.
