TAOK3
Description
The TAOK3 (TAO kinase 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.
Serine/threonine-protein kinase TAO3 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the TAOK3 gene.
TAOK3 is a serine/threonine protein kinase that regulates the p38/MAPK14 and MAPK8/JNK MAPK cascades. It activates the p38/MAPK14 cascade and is involved in the G2/M transition DNA damage checkpoint by activating this cascade. It is thought to mediate this activation through phosphorylation of upstream MAP2K3 and MAP2K6 kinases. TAOK3 also inhibits the basal activity of the MAPK8/JNK cascade and reduces its activation in response to epidermal growth factor (EGF).
TAOK3 is also known as DPK, JIK, MAP3K18, hKFC-A.
