TAF5L

Description

The TAF5L (TATA-box binding protein associated factor 5 like) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

TAF5L is an enzyme encoded by the TAF5L gene in humans. It belongs to the WD-repeat TAF5 family and is a component of the PCAF histone acetylase complex. This complex is involved in myogenic transcription and differentiation, and it plays a role in basal transcription, coactivation, promoter recognition, and modifying general transcription factors for complex assembly and transcription initiation. TAF5L shares structural similarities with TAF5, another histone-like TAF. The gene produces different isoforms through alternative splicing. TAF5L interacts with TAF9 and SPT3 homolog, suggesting its role in transcription regulation.

TAF5L is also known as PAF65B.
