TAF1D
Description
The TAF1D (TATA-box binding protein associated factor, RNA polymerase I subunit D) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.
TAF1D is a protein encoded by the TAF1D gene in humans. It is part of the SL1 complex, which also includes TBP, TAF1A, TAF1B, and TAF1C. This complex plays a role in RNA polymerase I transcription.
TAF1D is a component of the SL1/TIF-IB complex, which plays a crucial role in assembling the preinitiation complex (PIC) during RNA polymerase I-dependent transcription. The speed of PIC formation is likely determined by how quickly SL1/TIF-IB binds to the rDNA promoter. This complex also stabilizes nucleolar transcription factor 1 (UBTF) on rDNA. Interestingly, the formation of SL1/TIF-IB prevents TBP from associating with TFIID subunits.
