The TACC1 (transforming acidic coiled-coil containing protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.
TACC1 (Transforming acidic coiled-coil-containing protein 1) is a human gene. Its function is unknown, but it is thought to be linked to breast cancer as it is located near FGFR1 on chromosome 8, a region frequently amplified in some breast cancers.
TACC1 plays a role in regulating gene expression by interacting with nuclear receptors, specifically in pathways involving T3 thyroid hormone and all-trans retinoic acid. It may facilitate the movement of these receptors into the nucleus. Additionally, TACC1 is thought to be involved in the processes that control cell division before cells specialize into specific tissues.
