SYNRG

Description

The SYNRG (synergin gamma) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

SYNRG (also known as AP1 subunit gamma-binding protein 1 or gamma-synergin) is involved in endocytosis and membrane trafficking at the trans-Golgi network (TGN). It may link the adapter protein complex AP-1 to other proteins. SYNRG is a component of clathrin-coated vesicles and the aftiphilin/p200/gamma-synergin complex. This complex plays a role in AP1G1/AP-1-mediated protein trafficking, including the transport of transferrin from early to recycling endosomes and the trafficking of furin and the lysosomal enzyme cathepsin D between the TGN and endosomes.

SYNRG is also known as AP1GBP1, SYNG.
