STX8

Description

The STX8 (syntaxin 8) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

Syntaxin-8 is a protein encoded by the STX8 gene in humans. It directly interacts with HECTd3 and shares a similar subcellular localization. Syntaxin 8 has been shown to form a SNARE complex with syntaxin 7, vti1b, and endobrevin, which act as machinery for the homotypic fusion of late endosomes.

== Interactions == STX8 has been shown to interact with Vesicle-associated membrane protein 8, VTI1B and STX7.

Syntaxin-8 is a vesicle trafficking protein involved in the early secretory pathway, potentially facilitating retrograde transport from cis-Golgi membranes back to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER).

STX8 is also known as CARB.
