STX5

Description

The STX5 (syntaxin 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

Syntaxin-5 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the STX5 gene.

STX5 plays a crucial role in the transport of molecules from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to the Golgi apparatus. It works in conjunction with p115/USO1 and GM130/GOLGA2 to tether and fuse vesicles at the cis-Golgi membrane, ensuring the proper stacking and interconnected structure of the Golgi. This process is essential for maintaining the integrity and functionality of the Golgi.

STX5 is also known as CDG2AA, SED5, STX5A.
