STBD1

Description

The STBD1 (starch binding domain 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

STBD1 acts as a cargo receptor for glycogen, transporting it to lysosomes through an autophagic pathway known as glycophagy. This process is facilitated by STBD1's interaction with ATG8 family proteins GABARAP and GABARAPL1, and its association with glycogen-associated proteins like GYS2, GDE, GBE1, and EPM2A.

STBD1 is also known as GENEX3414, GENX-3414.
