SRRM1

Description

The SRRM1 (serine and arginine repetitive matrix 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

SRRM1 (Serine/arginine repetitive matrix protein 1) is a human protein encoded by the SRRM1 gene. It interacts with CDC5L. SRRM1 is also known as SR-related nuclear matrix protein of 160 kDa or Ser/Arg-related nuclear matrix protein.

SRRM1 is involved in various pre-mRNA processing events, particularly splicing. It plays a role in both constitutive and ESE-dependent splicing activation by bridging together specific SR proteins and snRNP factors. SRRM1 also stimulates mRNA 3'-end cleavage, binds to both pre-mRNA and spliced mRNA near exon-exon junctions, and exhibits low sequence specificity for binding to both RNA and DNA.

SRRM1 is also known as 160-KD, POP101, SRM160.
