SRPRB

Description

The SRPRB (SRP receptor subunit beta) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

Signal recognition particle receptor subunit beta is a protein encoded by the SRPRB gene in humans. It shares similarity with a mouse protein that is a subunit of the signal recognition particle receptor (SR). This subunit is a transmembrane GTPase belonging to the GTPase superfamily. It anchors the alpha subunit, a peripheral membrane GTPase, to the ER membrane. SR is crucial for the cotranslational targeting of secretory and membrane proteins to the ER membrane.

SRPRB is a subunit of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex receptor (SR). In collaboration with the SRP complex, it directs the correct targeting of nascent secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane system. It might play a role in mediating the membrane association of SR.

SRPRB is also known as APMCF1, SR-beta.
