SPDYA
Description
The SPDYA (speedy/RINGO cell cycle regulator family member A) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.
Speedy protein A is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SPDYA gene.
SPDYA regulates the transition from the G1 to S phase of the cell cycle by binding and activating CDK1 and CDK2. It contributes to CDK2 activation by inducing a conformational change in the CDK2 T-loop, which blocks the substrate-binding cleft prior to kinase activation. SPDYA also mediates cell survival during DNA damage through activation of CDK2.
SPDYA is also known as RINGO3, RINGOA, SPDY1, SPY1.
