SPATA13

Description

The SPATA13 (spermatogenesis associated 13) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 13.

SPATA13 (Spermatogenesis-associated 13) is a protein encoded by the SPATA13 gene in humans.

SPATA13 acts as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) for the RHOA, RAC1, and CDC42 GTPases. It regulates cell migration and adhesion assembly/disassembly through a pathway involving RAC1, PI3K, RHOA, and AKT1. SPATA13 increases the activity of both RAC1 and CDC42 but decreases the activity of RHOA. It is required for upregulation of MMP9 via the JNK signaling pathway in colorectal tumor cells. SPATA13 is involved in tumor angiogenesis and may play a role in intestinal adenoma formation and tumor progression.

SPATA13 is also known as ARHGEF29, ASEF2.
