SP3

Description

The SP3 (Sp3 transcription factor) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

SP3 may refer to:

SP3 is a transcriptional factor that can act as either an activator or repressor of gene expression depending on its isoform and post-translational modifications. It binds to GT and GC box promoter elements and competes with SP1 for GC-box promoters. Although it is a weak activator of transcription, it can activate a number of genes involved in various processes including cell cycle regulation, hormone induction, and housekeeping.

SP3 is also known as SPR2.
