SNX19

Description

The SNX19 (sorting nexin 19) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

SNX19 is involved in the movement of vesicles within cells (intracellular vesicle trafficking) and the release of these vesicles outside the cell (exocytosis). It is thought to be important for the maintenance of insulin-containing vesicles in pancreatic beta-cells, which are responsible for insulin production. By preventing the degradation of these vesicles, SNX19 may contribute to the proper release of insulin.

SNX19 is also known as CHET8.
