SNRPG

Description

The SNRPG (small nuclear ribonucleoprotein polypeptide G) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

Small nuclear ribonucleoprotein G (SNRPG) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SNRPG gene. SNRPG has been shown to interact with DDX20 and TACC1.

SNRPG is a core component of the spliceosomal U1, U2, U4, and U5 small nuclear ribonucleoproteins (snRNPs), which are essential for pre-mRNA splicing. It is involved in both the pre-catalytic spliceosome B complex and the activated spliceosome C complexes. SNRPG also plays a role in the splicing of U12-type introns as part of the minor spliceosome. Additionally, it is involved in histone 3'-end processing as part of the U7 snRNP.

SNRPG is also known as SMG, Sm-G.
