Description

The SMYD4 (SET and MYND domain containing 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

SMYD4 is a protein encoded by the SMYD4 gene in humans.

SMYD4 plays a critical role in cardiac development. It acts as a key epigenetic regulator of gene expression during cardiac development by functioning both as a methyltransferase and a negative regulator of HDAC1.

SMYD4 is also known as ZMYND21.
