Description

The SLX4IP (SLX4 interacting protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.

SLX4IP is a protein encoded by the SLX4IP gene in humans. It exists as a monomer and interacts with the SLX4-XPF-ERCC1 multiprotein complex, essential for assembling a Holliday junction resolvase during DNA repair and maintenance. SLX4IP directly interacts with the N-terminal end of the SLX4 protein, contributing to the coordination of different DNA structure-specific endonucleases. It is also involved in regulating alternative lengthening of telomeres by accumulating and interacting with SLX4, BLM, and XPF proteins. The SLX4IP gene is located on chromosome 20, specifically on the short arm (p) at position 12.2 (20p12.2). It comprises 14 exons, with a cDNA length of 204,000 base pairs oriented on the plus strand, encoding a protein of 408 amino acids and a molecular mass of 45,552 daltons. SLX4IP homologs are conserved across multiple species, including mice, rats, frogs, chickens, dogs, rhesus monkeys, and chimpanzees. Orthologs have also been identified in 283 other organisms. The protein exhibits highest expression in the skin and testis, along with expression in 26 other tissues.
