SLFN13

Description

The SLFN13 (schlafen family member 13) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

SLFN13 is an endoribonuclease that cleaves tRNAs and rRNAs. It specifically cleaves tRNAs 11 nucleotides from the 3'-terminus at the acceptor stem, but does not act on tRNA(Sec). SLFN13 can restrict HIV-1 virus replication, and this ability is dependent on its endoribonuclease activity.

SLFN13 is also known as SLFN10, hSLFN13.
