SLC6A15
Description
The SLC6A15 (solute carrier family 6 member 15) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.
SLC6A15, encoding the Sodium-dependent neutral amino acid transporter B(0)AT2, is a protein with characteristics of a Na+ and Cl−-dependent neurotransmitter transporter. It features 12 transmembrane (TM) domains, intracellular N and C termini, and large extracellular loops with multiple N-glycosylation sites. Variations in SLC6A15 have been linked to depression, potentially due to reduced SLC6A15 expression in the hippocampus and decreased hippocampal volume.
SLC6A15 is also known as NTT73, SBAT1, V7-3, hv7-3.
