SLC38A6

Description

The SLC38A6 (solute carrier family 38 member 6) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

SLC38A6 is an amino acid transporter that exhibits a preference for L-glutamine and L-glutamate. It is suspected to play a role in glutamine uptake within excitatory neurons. The precise mechanism by which SLC38A6 transports these amino acids is yet to be fully understood.

SLC38A6 is also known as NAT-1, SNAT6.
