SLC2A7

Description

The SLC2A7 (solute carrier family 2 member 7) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

SLC2A7, also known as glucose transporter 7 (GLUT7), is a protein encoded by the SLC2A7 gene in humans. It belongs to a family of transporters that facilitate the uptake of sugars through a process called facilitated diffusion. This family shares a common structure, including 12 transmembrane helices and certain important amino acid residues.

SLC2A7 is a probable sugar transporter (PMID:28083649). While its specific role in the body is not fully understood, it has been shown to transport glucose and fructose (PMID:29548810, PMID:28083649, PMID:16186102). It does not transport galactose, 2-deoxy-d-glucose, or xylose (PMID:15033637).

SLC2A7 is also known as GLUT-7, GLUT7, hGLUT7.
