SLC2A4RG

Description

The SLC2A4RG (SLC2A4 regulator) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.

The SLC2A4 regulator protein, encoded by the SLC2A4RG gene in humans, is a nuclear transcription factor. Its primary function is to activate the expression of the SLC2A4 gene, which codes for a glucose transporter protein. This activation occurs through an interaction with another transcription factor known as myocyte enhancer factor 2 (MEF2).

This protein acts as a transcription factor, specifically activating the expression of the SLC2A4 gene (also known as GLUT4) and the Huntington's disease gene (HD). It recognizes and binds to a specific DNA sequence, known as the consensus sequence, which is 5'-GCCGGCG-3'.

SLC2A4RG is also known as GEF, HDBP-1, HDBP1, Si-1-2, Si-1-2-19.
