SLC28A3

Description

The SLC28A3 (solute carrier family 28 member 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

SLC28A3 is a sodium-dependent nucleoside transporter that exhibits selectivity for both pyrimidine and purine nucleosides. It is involved in the homeostasis of endogenous nucleosides, including thymidine, inosine, and uridine. The transporter functions as a concentrative Na(+)-nucleoside cotransporter, with a 2:1 sodium/nucleoside ratio, and belongs to the N3/cib subtype of nucleoside transport systems. SLC28A3 is capable of transporting a range of nucleoside analogs, including gemcitabine, AZT, ribavirin, and 3-deazauridine.

SLC28A3 is also known as CNT3.
