SLC17A1

Description

The SLC17A1 (solute carrier family 17 member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

Sodium-dependent phosphate transport protein 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SLC17A1 gene.

SLC17A1 plays a crucial role in phosphate reabsorption by the kidneys. It actively transports phosphate into cells via sodium cotransport within the renal brush border membrane. Additionally, SLC17A1 participates in urate transport in the kidneys.

SLC17A1 is also known as NAPI-1, NPT-1, NPT1.
