SH3BP5

Description

The SH3BP5 (SH3 domain binding protein 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

SH3 domain-binding protein 5 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SH3BP5 gene. SH3BP5 has been shown to interact with Bruton's tyrosine kinase and MAPK8.

SH3BP5 acts as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) specifically for RAB11A and RAB25. It inhibits the auto- and transphosphorylation activity of BTK, thereby negatively regulating BTK-related signaling in B-cells. It is potentially involved in BCR-induced apoptosis.

SH3BP5 is also known as SAB, SH3BP-5.
