SFI1

Description

The SFI1 (SFI1 centrin binding protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 22.

The SFI1 gene in humans encodes the SFI1 protein, which localizes to the centriole. Its S. pombe counterpart has been linked to spindle pole body duplication. SFI1 forms a complex with centrin 2.

SFI1 plays a key role in the dynamic structure of centrosome-associated contractile fibers through its interaction with CETN2.

SFI1 is also known as PISD, PPP1R139, hSfi1p.
