SESTD1
Description
The SESTD1 (SEC14 and spectrin domain containing 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.
SEC14 and spectrin domains 1, also known as SEC14 domain and spectrin repeat-containing protein 1 and Solo, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SESTD1 gene.
SESTD1 is believed to function as a primary docking protein, directing the turnover and assembly of transient receptor potential channels TRPC4 and TRPC5 within cell membranes. It binds to phospholipids like phosphatidylinositol monophosphates, phosphatidylinositol diphosphates (PIP2s), and phosphatidic acid, but not less polar lipids such as phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylserine, and phosphatidylinositol. This binding to PIP2s is dependent on the presence of calcium. SESTD1 might also play a role in the localization of CTNNB1 to the plasma membrane.
SESTD1 is also known as SOLO.
