SERPINA10
Description
The SERPINA10 (serpin family A member 10) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.
SERPINA10, also known as Protein Z-dependent protease inhibitor (ZPI), is a protein found in the blood that inhibits factors Xa and XIa in the coagulation cascade. It is a member of the serine protease inhibitor (serpin) family. It requires protein Z (PROZ) to function properly, but this is only true for its inhibition of factor X. It is approximately 72 kDa in size and contains 444 amino acids. SERPINA10 is produced by the liver. A study by Water et al. found that 4.4% of patients with thrombophilia (a tendency to thrombosis) had a deficiency of SERPINA10. SERPINA10 was first described by Han et al. in 1998, and the same group further characterized it in 2000.
SERPINA10 is also known as PZI, ZPI.
