SCAMP1

Description

The SCAMP1 (secretory carrier membrane protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

SCAMP1 (Secretory carrier-associated membrane protein 1) is a human protein encoded by the SCAMP1 gene. It belongs to the SCAMP family, which are secretory carrier membrane proteins involved in post-Golgi recycling pathways. These proteins act as carriers to the cell surface, transporting proteins from the Golgi apparatus back to the cell membrane. Different SCAMP family members are highly related but are encoded by distinct genes and are usually expressed together, suggesting they function at the same site during vesicular transport. SCAMP1 has been shown to interact with ITSN1 and AP1GBP1.

SCAMP1 functions in the post-Golgi recycling pathways, acting as a carrier to transport proteins from the Golgi apparatus back to the cell surface.

SCAMP1 is also known as SCAMP, SCAMP37.
