SBNO2
Description
The SBNO2 (strawberry notch homolog 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.
SBNO2, also known as Strawberry notch homolog 2, is a protein encoded by the SBNO2 gene in humans. It is involved in various cellular processes related to bone development and inflammation.
SBNO2 acts as a transcriptional coregulator, exhibiting both coactivator and corepressor functions. It inhibits the repressive activity of TAL1 on the DCSTAMP promoter, thereby facilitating the binding of the transcription factor MITF in osteoclasts. SBNO2 plays a crucial role in bone homeostasis, acting as a positive regulator in RANKL-mediated osteoclast fusion through a DCSTAMP-dependent pathway. Additionally, it may be involved in regulating osteoblast differentiation. SBNO2 contributes to the transcriptional repression of NF-kappaB in macrophages and participates in the pro-inflammatory cascade.
SBNO2 is also known as KIAA0963, SNO, STNO.
