RPS4Y2

Description

The RPS4Y2 (ribosomal protein S4 Y-linked 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome Y.

Ribosomal protein S4, Y-linked 2 (RPS4Y2) is a protein encoded by the RPS4Y2 gene located on the Y chromosome. It's a component of the 40S ribosomal subunit, which plays a critical role in protein synthesis. This protein is part of the S4E family of ribosomal proteins and is one of three isoforms (along with RPS4Y1 and RPS4X), all of which appear functionally equivalent. Although it's been suggested that haploinsufficiency of the RPS4Y2 gene could contribute to Turner syndrome, this hypothesis is still debated.

RPS4Y2 is also known as RPS4Y2P.
